What is the purpose of canLoad in Angular if we already have lazy loading and canActivate?

I have two modules in my Angular application, and I am using lazy loading to prevent a module from being loaded until the user navigates to it.

Additionally, I am using canActivate in my route guards to ensure that only logged-in users can access certain modules.

However, I came across canLoad, and I'm not quite sure why it's needed. Since lazy loading already prevents a module from being loaded until required, and canActivate ensures only authorized users can navigate to it, doesn't canLoad serve the same purpose?

My understanding so far: Lazy loading: Prevents the module from being loaded until the user navigates to it.

canActivate: Runs before navigating to a route but after the module is loaded.

canLoad: ??? (How is it different if lazy loading is already in place?)

My questions: What is the actual purpose of canLoad if lazy loading already prevents premature loading?

If canActivate is already checking access, why would we need canLoad?

In what scenarios should canLoad be used over canActivate, or should both be used together?

I would appreciate any clarification and best practices! Thanks in advance.
