The title pretty much says it all. So far I've tried Fast-Quadratic-Mesh-Simplification, but as the documentation on the original c implementation says, it only preserves watertightness if there are no thin sections. For my case, it is important to always preserve it no matter what. Other algorithms don't even mention watertightness in their documentation and I don't really want to spend time trying to find the correct inputs for each one by one (the main reason I tried pyfqms first is because I can just shoot it two arrays with vertices and triangles without special formatting). Does someone know of a python package that can decimate a triangular mesh while ensuring it remains watertight? Continue reading...
