In PyCharm when I split panes (horizontal or vertical) each pane/window is a group of separate files. For instance, splitting horizontally I can haves utilities.py,...scratch.py in left pane, and pdal_utiles.py and debugging_greengen_v2.py in right pane (different file groupings). But in Spyder, the panes are identical and linked. In screenshot from Spyder, if I close cat.py in left pane, then it closes in right pane as well. If I open new files in the right pane, they open in the left pane (and vice versa). I want the two panes independent of each other with groupings of different files. Can I achieve this in Spyder?
