I am an old man with bad eyes and am colorblind. I have programmed in many languages over 50+ years and am just getting around to playing with Python on Windows 11.

Many of the colors used in the Python shell make the text unreadable to me. I have been looking for a way to kill all coloring in the shell so I can at least read the screen, but have not found a way to do it. I've tried os.system("color 70") but the colors come right back, apparently because the command is executed in a subshell.

Any help would be appreciated (otherwise I'll have to give up on Python) :-(.
