I'm exploring an architecture where instead of installing opencv-python-headless as a dependency in my service, OpenCV itself is wrapped inside a dedicated container image that exposes an API on a specified port. The idea is that another service (an OpenCV client) interacts with this containerized OpenCV microservice to perform image/video processing tasks, for example, converting an RGB image to black and white. The client-side (another service) usage would be something like: import opencv_client cv2 = opencv_client.init("<proto>://opencv-container:5000") # Example usage: send an image to the OpenCV service and get back the processed result bw_image = cv2.convert_to_black_and_white(rgb_image) Continue reading...
