[Python] If lists in Python allow data from differents types how the interpreter calculates...

I remember from my data structures classes back in college that to calculate the address of any item of an array we use offset. Basically the compiler keep track of the address of the first element in the array and based on the bytes needed to represent the data type it uses pointer arithmetic to access the items. If Python allow us to store items from different data types and with different sizes, how the offset works?
