[Python] I have problem in spliting text to read it 1 by 1

I have a code to get an Entry value and read it line by line I decided to use split but it's not working!

here is the code

def send_to_all():
userraw = userentry.get(1.0, tk.END)
sendmsg = msgentry.get(1.0, tk.END)
userlist = split(userraw,"\n")
print(sendmsg)
print(userlist)


and the error:

NameError: name 'split' is not defined

I tried to make a list valuable first and then save the split in it
also I tried with and without str() function to save it
