I am developing an agent (like a lightweight EDR/log collector) in Python.
My goal is to collect system/application/security/network logs across different operating systems:

    • Windows: Event Viewer logs (System, Security, Application)
    • Linux: syslog, journald
    • macOS: system logs (unified logging)

    I would like to know:

    1. What are the recommended Python libraries or APIs to read these logs on each OS?
    2. Is there a cross-platform approach, or do I need OS-specific implementations?
    3. Do you have minimal code examples (e.g., reading Windows Event Log with pywin32, Linux journald with systemd.journal, or macOS unified logs)?

Any advice, best practices, or code snippets would be greatly appreciated.
