So I have an assessment for my AI module. I wanted to develop something similar to Conways game of life. When I researched about it a bit, I think the default version itself isnt a AI/ML project. I wanted to create a self playing simulation game .

I thought about manipulating the concept of the survival. For example: Cells require food to survive, food can only be eaten if the cell has 1 money, money can be acquired by going to the money tiles. Every movement to tile costs 1 energy. Cells have to eat to gain energy. The energy depletes over time.

I have been taught a list of ai concepts from which I have to apply 2-3 concepts on the proejct. Those are: Tree search Depth-first search Breadth-first search Dynamic programming Uniform cost search Learning costs A* search Relaxation Markov decision process Policy evaluation Value iteration Reinforcement learning Monte Carlo methods Games, expectimax Minimax, expectiminimax Evaluation functions Alpha-beta pruning Temporal difference (TD) learning Simultaneous game State-of-the-art

I am really new to AI and python. and dont know much about it. Can someone tell me if I am going in the right direction with my project? Or do I have to scrap it and find something else? Will the project that I am thinking will become and AI/ML project after I add the variables mentioned above?
