[Python] consolidate_intersections in OSMnx: excluding edges with specific attribute

I'm using consolidate_intersections from OSMnx to simplify a road network. However, in this process, some bridges are being removed because their length is smaller than the distance tolerance I set. I'd like to consolidate intersections while preserving edges with a specific attribute, specifically those where "bridge"=="yes".

Lowering the tolerance is not an option because then only a few edges are consolidated.

Is there a way to exclude certain edges from the intersection consolidation process based on their attributes? If that's not possible, is there any workaround to solve this?
