[Python] Chromedriver suddenly stopped working even though I didn't update anything

I have a specific version of Chrome and a specific version of ChromeDriver installed. Some time ago everything worked fine. But today, even though I didn't install or update anything, I get the error This version of ChromeDriver only supports Chrome version 139. A similar thing occurs every few days/weeks. But how can this happen when I didn't update or change ChromeDriver in any way? Does ChromeDriver check which version of Chrome is the 'latest' and then just refuse to work with any other version?
