I have the following file 'test.py' #!/usr/bin/env python3 if __name__ == '__main__': test: str = "This is a test" breakpoint() print(test) When executing this (no venv) auto-complete works fine, e.g. > python test.py > /home/USER/projects/pdb-autocomplete-test/test.py(5)<module>() -> breakpoint() (Pdb) p test 'This is a test' (Pdb) I only typed 'p t< TAB >' and it auto-completed to 'p test'. If I then create a virtual environment like this, and finally execute again: > uv venv > source .venv/bin/activate > python3 test.py > /home/USER/projects/pdb-autocomplete-test/test.py(6)<module>() -> print(test) (Pdb) p t<TAB> gives 'p t < TAB INDENT >' instead of auto completing. Additional info > python --version Python 3.12.11 > uname -r 6.15.9-201.fc42.x86_64 So how do I enable pdb autocomplete from virtual environment? Continue reading...
