How to capture an API call being cancelled in .NET Core (3.1.0) Web API?

I have a front end application written in Angular which makes API calls by subscribing to subscriptions. Users have the choice to cancel requests to which we unsubscribe from the subscriptions. I can see that this part works as the API call is cancelled when I view this in the network tab.

However, given that I added a CancellationToken parameter to my endpoint, this endpoint is not being hit when cancelled. How can I get cancellation tokens to work in this case? Is there something else I need to set up for this to work?
