How to access Firebase App Hosting environment variables in Angular

Looking for insight on how people are accessing variables defined in Firebase App Hosting's apphosting.yaml file in an Angular application

apphosting.yaml:

runConfig:
minInstances: 0
# maxInstances: 100
# concurrency: 80
# cpu: 1
# memoryMiB: 512

# Environment variables and secrets.
env:
- variable: MY_KEY
secret: projects/{projectId}/secrets/{MY_KEY}


In this example case, MY_KEY is an authorization token that I need to access a service on my frontend.
