Best Approach for Handling Dynamic Text in Forms with Real-Time Translations in Angular

I'm working on an Angular app where we need to support multiple languages. For static text like buttons, menu items, and static labels, we're using ngx-translate, which works well for known content that can be translated upfront.

However, we have a significant amount of dynamically generated text within forms. These forms are generated based on configurations that can change frequently, and the text (labels, placeholders, etc.) isn’t always known in advance. This presents a challenge, as we cannot store all possible translations beforehand in the ngx-translate JSON files. Moreover, new text may be introduced on the fly as new forms are created or data is fetched from external sources.

Challenges: Dynamic Text: We don’t know all the possible phrases in advance, especially for form labels and placeholders. Real-Time Translation: Need a way to translate this unpredictable content dynamically at runtime. Cost Efficiency: Using real-time translation APIs for all dynamic content could become expensive if not managed properly. Performance: How do we handle translations efficiently, especially with frequent new text without affecting the app’s performance?

Proposed Hybrid Solution:

To address the challenges of both static and dynamic text translations, I’m thinking of using a hybrid approach:

1. Use ngx-translate for Static and Known Dynamic Text For static text and text that we can predict (like common labels, placeholders, etc.), I plan to continue using ngx-translate with predefined translation files (en.json, fr.json, etc.). This allows for fast, local translation without relying on external services or APIs for known phrases.
2. Fallback to a Real-Time Translation API for Unpredictable Text For truly dynamic and unpredictable text, I’m considering using a real-time translation API (e.g., Google Cloud Translation API or Microsoft Azure Translator) as a fallback. Whenever ngx-translate doesn’t have a predefined translation for a label or placeholder, I could call the API to fetch the translation dynamically at runtime.
3. Caching Translations for Efficiency To minimize API calls and improve performance, I plan to implement a caching mechanism (using localStorage or a state management library like NgRx). This would store translations fetched from the API so that the same text isn’t translated multiple times unnecessarily.
4. Real-Time Language Switching The app should allow users to switch languages without a page reload, and translations should be applied in real-time for both static and dynamic text. Questions/Help Needed:

Best Practices: Is this hybrid approach feasible, or is there a better way to handle real-time translations for dynamic content in Angular?

Cost and Performance Optimization: Any suggestions on how to optimize the cost of real-time translation APIs? Are there better ways to minimize API usage when dealing with frequently changing dynamic text?

Caching Strategy: What’s the best strategy for caching translations? Should I use localStorage, or is it better to use a state management solution like NgRx for this kind of task?

API Recommendations: I’m considering using Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure for real-time translations. Has anyone had experience with these services, and is there a better, more affordable alternative?

Tech Stack:

Frontend: Angular Translation Library: ngx-translate Potential API Services: Google Cloud Translation API, Microsoft Azure Translator, DeepL, or Amazon Translate

I’d appreciate any insights, advice, or suggestions from those who’ve tackled a similar problem! Thanks in advance!
